I've worked for over 20 years as a practitioner and advisor on IT in business. My particular expertise is in technology infrastructure and sourcing of IT services. In recent years I have focused on developing and understanding offshore IS services.

I currently work for Kainos, a systems integration company. Until September 2006, I was a VP at Capgemini UK, leading the Financial Services practice. Before that, I was the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Allied Irish Bank, a $14bn multi-national company with operations in Ireland, UK, USA and Poland. Based in Dublin, this job occupied me through Y2K, the dot.com boom and the dot.com crash, possibly the most exciting and challenging time to be a CIO in recent years. Before joining AIB, I was responsible for IT infrastructure strategy at Standard Chartered Bank, and at Glaxo, where I helped co-ordinate the technology aspects of the Glaxo-Wellcome merger.

I started my career at Andersen Consulting, where I managed complex change programmes, including negotiating and managing outsourcing contracts and developing innovative sourcing approaches.

I lecture on Social and Organisational Issues in Computing at Birkbeck College, University of London.
